Our Lord Jesus Christ does not want us to fear — no fear of insecurity, no fear of poverty and want, no fear of illnesses, no fear of death. He wants us to see that God is the kind of God whose people do not need to fear. God is our Father. And since He gives us a kingdom, He must be a King. And since we are His flock, He must be a Shepherd. Indeed, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want,” (Psalm 23:1) because I know that “the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)
