Today, we’re celebrating a moment that changed the course of history—the Feast of the Annunciation of Mary, the Mother of God. It was on this day that the angel Gabriel showed up in a little town called Nazareth, and gave a young woman named Mary an incredible message that she would bear the Son of God.
Mary wasn’t someone famous. She wasn’t powerful. She was just a teenager living an ordinary life. But God saw something extraordinary in her. He chose her not because of her status, but because of her heart. And her response? She didn’t panic. She didn’t say, “Why me?” She said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38)
Friends, that one line is a lesson in faith. It’s a reminder that when God calls us, we don’t have to have it all figured out. We don’t have to know how it’s all going to work. Like Mary, we just have to say, “Yes, Lord, I trust You.”
Maybe today, you’re facing something that doesn’t make sense. A challenge. A transition. A calling that feels bigger than you. You might be thinking, “I’m not ready. I’m not strong enough. I don’t see the way forward.” But remember, God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called. If He put it in your heart, He’ll put it in your hands.
Mary’s journey wasn’t easy. Bearing and raising Jesus came with unimaginable challenges and sorrows. She walked through uncertainty, through fear, through heartbreak. But through it all, she stayed faithful. And because of her obedience, the Savior of the world was born.
God has a unique plan and purpose for your life, a path He’s laid out just for you. So don’t shrink back. Don’t talk yourself out of it. Say like Mary, “Let it be done in my life according to Your Word.” When you live with that kind of surrender, that kind of trust, you’ll see God do things you never thought possible.
