Covered by His Love

One cold winter night when I was a teenager, I went to bed without pulling the blankets up over myself. Instead of waking me, my mother quietly came in and covered me with the blankets, ensuring I stayed warm throughout the night.

The next morning, I asked my mother how the blankets ended up on me. My mother explained that she had done it while I was asleep. I didn’t ask for it. I wasn’t even aware of it. But in her love and care, she made sure I didn’t get cold through the night.

Friends, that’s a beautiful picture of how God watches over us. Even when we’re not aware, even when we’re not asking, He’s there—covering us, protecting us, wrapping us in His love. Psalm 121:4 says, “He who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep.” While we rest, while we go through life, God is awake, watching over us like a loving parent.

How often do we go through life, unaware of God’s protective hand over us? We might face challenges, uncertainties, and fears, but we can take comfort in knowing that God is always with us. He is attentive to every detail of our lives, working behind the scenes for our good. He’s arranging things in our favor, putting us in the right place at the right time, and keeping us from the danger that we don’t even know about.

What should our response be to this incredible love? It’s simple: trust and gratitude. Trust in God’s faithfulness. Trust that He’s got our backs, that He’s working things out for our good, even when we can’t see it. Trust that His timing is perfect. And then, be grateful. Take a moment every day to thank God for His protection, for His provision, for the countless ways He’s blessed us.

So take heart today— you are never alone. Even in your darkest hour, even in your coldest season, God is with you, covering you with His love, His grace, and His protection. You can rest in that and you can wake up every morning with the confidence that your Heavenly Father is always watching over you. Even when we cannot see His hand, we can trust His heart.
