God constantly reminds us in the Bible that His love is not harsh or demanding; it’s gentle and kind, and it’s always there to lift us up when we’re weary. In Hosea 11:4, He says, “I drew them with gentle cords, With bands of love.” God doesn’t force us to follow Him; He doesn’t drag us along a path we’re not ready to walk. Instead, He draws us with love. It’s like a parent guiding their child’s first steps—there’s a hand holding you up, a voice encouraging you, and a heart full of love wanting nothing but the best for you.
Imagine for a moment that you’re that child learning to walk. Every step is uncertain, and every wobble feels like you might fall. But your parent’s hand is there, steadying you, guiding you. That’s how God leads us. He knows the path can be hard. He knows there will be moments of doubt, but He’s there, drawing us closer with those gentle cords, those bands of love that never fail.
We all have moments when we feel like we’re not enough like we’re not strong enough to face what’s ahead. But in those moments, remember this: God is not pushing you forward with harsh demands; He’s drawing you closer with gentle love. He’s saying, “I’ve got you. I’m here with you. You don’t have to do this alone.”
There’s a small garden spider that builds its nest between the branches of a bush. After laying her eggs, she attaches a silky thread to each one. When the eggs hatch and the little spiders emerge, she attaches another thread to them. These threads are not just for show; they serve a vital purpose. If the nest is disturbed, the mother spider feels the vibrations through the threads, and she quickly pulls her babies back into the safety of the nest.
Isn’t that a beautiful picture of God’s love? We are connected to Him with cords of love, just like those little spiders are connected to their mother. When danger comes, when the enemy tries to attack, those cords of love pull us back into the safety of God’s embrace. We might feel the tremors of life’s challenges, but we don’t have to fear because we know that God is there, drawing us back, protecting us, and keeping us safe.
I'm a pretty old person to be learning this now. However, I wasn't receptive to this message until now and only now at age 79 do I know it is true.
