Embracing Courage

We live in a world where courage seems to be in short supply. Parents become overprotective, worrying about what might happen to their children. There are fears about losing jobs and concerns over personal safety. We worry about natural disasters, the state of the economy, and the threat of war. We get anxious about not measuring up to others and fear rejection or failure. These fears can paralyze us, stopping us from doing what God calls us to do.

But “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). God hasn’t given us fear; He's given us power! He's given us love! He's given us a sound mind! When we realize that God has already equipped us with everything we need to face our fears, we can step out with boldness and confidence. His perfect love drives out all fear, and in its place, it fills us with peace, joy, and confident hope.

Friends, courage isn’t about the absence of fear; it’s about moving forward in spite of it. It’s about trusting that God is with you every step of the way. When fear tries to take hold, turn to God. Pray for His strength. Immerse yourself in His Word. Remind yourself of His promises: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

This promise is for you and me today. God is with us. He goes before us, and He is our rear guard. He holds us in the palm of His hand. Don’t let fear paralyze you. There are people in our lives who need us to be strong and courageous. They need us to lead the way and set the example. Be courageous. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. He is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you.
