Hope On In Faith

In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul writes about Abraham’s faith in this way: "Hoping against hope, he believed" (Romans 4:18). Abraham's unwavering faith made him the inheritor of God’s magnificent promises. Imagine the challenge he faced! God promised to bless him and make him the father of many nations, even though he had no children.

The Armenian translation reads, "All human reason for hope was gone, but Abraham hoped on in faith." We may feel like there's no reason to have hope. The challenges seem overwhelming, the obstacles insurmountable, and the future uncertain. Thoughts will come to us saying, "It's impossible. Why are you even believing? You know that problem is not going to work out." Those same thoughts came to Abraham. "You can’t have a baby. Your wife is 80 years old. That’s never happened before." But against all hope, Abraham hoped on in faith.

When it doesn’t look hopeful, when we don’t see any sign of things turning around, and every thought is telling us, "You’re wasting your time," that’s when we have to dig down deep and hope on in faith. Against the odds, dare to believe. When the world says it’s over, God says it’s just beginning. When others see a dead end, God sees a new path. Hope on in faith, because God is still in control.

The same God who made a way for Abraham is the same God who will make a way for us. He didn’t bring us this far to leave us. He’s not going to fail us now. What He promised us is still on the way. Let’s not give up on our dreams; let’s not quit believing because our hope is not in the circumstances—our hope is in the Lord. Our situation might look dead, but God is the God of resurrection. Our dream might seem impossible, but God is the God of miracles. Our future might feel uncertain, but God is the God of promises, and He is faithful.

Remember, hope isn’t just a wish; it’s a confident expectation in what God has promised. So no matter what we’re facing, let our hope be in Him, and watch as He works wonders in our lives.
