The other day, I was at the airport, sitting in the lounge, grabbing a quick lunch between flights. Like I always do, I made the sign of the cross and blessed my food. It wasn’t anything grand or dramatic, just a simple act of faith—acknowledging God’s goodness in providing my daily bread. But as I did, I noticed a lady sitting across from me. She gave me a strange look, almost as if to say, “What are you doing?” I didn’t let it bother me; I just smiled, enjoyed my lunch, and moved on.
A little while later, that same lady stood up and left. But as she walked away, I noticed something. She had forgotten her AirPods case on the couch. I grabbed it, ran after her, and said, “Excuse me, ma’am, you left this behind!” She turned around, surprised, and replied, "Thank you!" Then, after a brief pause, she added with a warm smile, "Merry Christmas.”
We often think we need to do big things to make a difference—preach a sermon, lead a church, or give generously. Those are wonderful, but God also works in the small, ordinary moments. I didn’t preach a sermon to that lady. I didn’t hand her a Bible. I just blessed my food and ran after her with her AirPods case. Yet somehow, she saw God in that. Never underestimate how God can use your kindness, your smile, or your small act of faithfulness to touch someone’s heart.
What if that moment was God’s way of reaching her? What if she was going through something, questioning her faith, feeling distant from Him? Sometimes, all it takes is one act of kindness, one moment of connection, to remind someone that God hasn’t forgotten them. You might not see the full impact, but trust that your obedience can be the answer to someone’s prayer.
So, the next time you feel like your faith is too small, or you worry about what others might think, remember this: God is in the small things. Be bold, be kind, and be ready. You might just be the answer to someone’s unspoken prayer. And who knows? In that moment, they might just say, “I feel like God sent you to me today.” Let your light shine. And that light can lead someone out of darkness, even if you never see it happen.
