The Best Is Yet to Come

There was an elderly clergyman who fell seriously ill. His right side was completely weakened; he couldn’t walk, and his eyes could barely see. One of his clergy brothers came to visit him. They sat together, reminiscing about the past. With a heavy sigh, the visiting brother said, “Hayr Soop, our best days are behind us.” But with a sudden burst of strength, the ailing clergyman lifted his head, looked towards the heavens, and proclaimed, “No, my dear brother, our best days are yet to come when we shall see our Lord Jesus Christ in His glory, standing at the right hand of God.”

This story reminds us of the incredible hope we have in Christ. It’s easy to feel like our best days are behind us, especially when we face illness, hardship, or any of life’s many challenges. But let me tell you, our best days are not behind us—they are ahead of us.

Our hope is not rooted in the things of this world. Our hope is in Jesus Christ, who rose from the dead and promised us eternal life. Indeed, resurrection and eternal life are the ultimate remedies against trials, fear, and death. No amount of wealth, genius, worldly pleasures, or glory can bring the comfort that comes from knowing we have eternal life with Christ.

Even in the darkest and most hopeless situations, our faith and trust in the resurrection and eternal life should never waver. Undoubtedly, the day will come when we shall see “the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God” (Acts 7:56), for “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more” (Revelation 21:4).

So, whatever you’re facing today, hold on to this truth: your best days are not behind you—they are ahead of you. Lift your eyes to the heavens and keep your faith strong. With every step you take and every challenge you face, remember that God is with you, guiding you, and He has more in store for you. Our trials here on earth are temporary; one day, we will stand in His presence, full of joy and peace. There is a glorious future waiting for us with our Lord.
