A mom was driving in the car, and her 7-year-old daughter turned to her and asked, “Do you want me to throw the confetti in my pocket?” The mom, a little surprised, said, “No, not in the car! Why do you have confetti in your pocket?” And with all the sincerity of a child, the little one replied, “It's my emergency confetti. I carry it everywhere in case there is good news.”
Friends, that’s the kind of faith God wants us to have! A faith that doesn’t wait until everything is perfect to celebrate, a faith that is ready to rejoice at a moment’s notice. The Bible says, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). It doesn’t say, “Only rejoice when things are going great” or “Only celebrate when all your problems are solved.” No, it says rejoice today, right where you are!
Sometimes, life can make us feel like there’s not much to celebrate. But that’s when God is calling us to hold onto hope, to carry that little bit of confetti in our hearts. This doesn’t mean we’re ignoring life’s difficulties; it means remembering that God is still good, even in the middle of them. It’s about choosing to trust that He’s working in ways we can’t yet see.
When we live with that kind of attitude, it changes us. We’re not weighed down by what didn’t work out; we’re not dwelling on past disappointments or anxieties about the future. Instead, we’re focused on what God is doing right now and on the blessings yet to come. We’re able to see even the smallest blessings—like that unexpected phone call from a friend, the beauty of autumn leaves, or even the smell of freshly brewed coffee—as reasons to celebrate.
So, go ahead and carry your emergency confetti of faith. Because with God, every day holds the possibility of something beautiful. Every day is another chance to rejoice, another opportunity to see His hand at work. Stay in expectation, my friends, stay ready to celebrate, and watch as God opens doors and fills your life with blessings that you never thought possible.
Thank you for the reminder!
I usually wake up saying this verse and somehow forgot to proclaim it today!
“ This IS the day that the LORD has made , rejoice and be glad in it!!!” Confetti 🎊
