“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you" (Jeremiah 31:3).
The word "everlasting" stretches our imagination. It goes beyond our understanding of time and space. It's more than just a long duration; it carries a sense of mystery, a sense of the infinite. When God says He loves us with an everlasting love, He’s saying His love is beyond what we can comprehend.
Let your mind run back into the past through all the years of history. Eventually, you reach a point where you can't think any further. Yet even beyond that point, God was there, loving us. That's the meaning of "everlasting." Let your mind run into the future, and you'll find the same mystery. There's a point where our understanding of time and age fades away, but God's love is still there, reaching beyond what we can grasp.
This is the beauty of God's everlasting love. It's beyond dimensions, greater than we can think or imagine. The Apostle Paul tried to capture this in Ephesians when he prayed that we might understand "the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge" (Ephesians 3:18-19).
Friends, God's love is beyond knowledge. It's a love that surrounds us, sustains us, and carries us through every season of life. When we face challenges, when we walk through valleys, His love is there, unwavering and eternal. His faithfulness continues through every high and every low. He sees you, He knows you, and He loves you beyond measure.
Embrace this truth: You are loved with an everlasting love. No matter where you've been, no matter what you've done, God's love remains constant and true. It is not dependent on your circumstances or your performance. It's an everlasting love, a love that was there before you were born and will be there for all eternity. It's a love that calls you precious, valued, and cherished.
