Yesterday, I was on a night flight from Yerevan through Vienna back to New York. Seated behind me was an elderly gentleman who had never been on a plane before. As the aircraft taxied down the runway for take-off, he looked out into the night and exclaimed, ‘Well, how will he make his way home in the dark?' It was explained to him that all he had to do was trust the captain. He would guide him safely.
Friends, sometimes our lives feel just like that night flight. We look out the window of our circumstances, and all we see is darkness—no signs, no markers, nothing to show us where we're headed or how we’ll get there. Maybe today you're feeling like that gentleman, unsure of what’s ahead. Perhaps you've been praying for answers, hoping for clarity, wondering, “How am I supposed to get through this?”
But the truth is, we don’t have to see the whole path. We have a Captain who does. God, the Author of our lives, has been charting our course since the beginning. He knows every step, every turn, and exactly how to get us safely home. That’s why, in Psalm 32:8, the Lord promises, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”
Maybe you’re sitting in your own darkness today, unsure of what tomorrow holds. You’ve been searching for a sign, for something to reassure you. Let me remind you, you’re not alone. The Captain of your soul knows every bump, every bit of turbulence. And He’s already prepared the path to bring us safely through. You may not see the way, but He does. And He’s right there, beside you, guiding you forward.
So, let’s stop wrestling with worry and let go of fear. Let’s trust in God and know that we are in good hands. When the night seems dark and the way unclear, remember that He’s already planned your safe arrival. And one day, when the journey is complete, we’ll look back and see how every moment, every mile, was guided by His hand. We’ll see the lights of home and realize He was with us every step of the way, bringing us safely to our destination.
And just like they do in Armenia, when a plane lands, we’ll clap and cheer, giving God all the glory!
This story is very uplifting and we can easily relate to it . Thank you Bishop Mesrop
